Do I need a paediatric first aid certificate?

If you want to work with children there are guidelines that should be followed.

 The statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, a legal requirements states that:

  • The environment should have a fully trained person who holds a valid three year Paediatric first Aid certificate. 
  • Childminders must hold a current paediatric first aid certificate at the point for registration.
  • Where you want to go on outings and visits a fully trained paediatric certificate in first aid should be held
Ofsted recommend that all staff in an early years setting hold a current paediatric first aid certificate.

 completed by attending and passing a 12 hour Paediatric first aid course.

 

Early Years Professional Status



To gain EYPS you need to have a degree (or foundation degree) and GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade C or above (or equivalent). And your degree can be in any subject. Contact Surrey County Council for different ways to apply for training.
